The Savant; the genius. The beautiful mind! Vs The Psychopath, dangerous predator! Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde combined into one character. The Shadow and the Persona
The shadow side, the sleazy, darker corrupt and repulsive desires lead him to persue his sexual energy outwardly! The damaged psychopath – The rapist, the paedophile, the murderer!
The damaged savant – The scruffy professor, the hermit secretary, the in-patient! Engaging in strange, odd and even degrading activities to stimulate neural pleasure/pain pathways – self harm!
There are two extreme types; the savant -hermit eccentric oddball and the psychopath; the ruthless predator. One is driven by the mind, the other is driven by the sexual energy.
These are the traits of the psychopath, which is easier to understand when you observe children, with low functioning autism and sexualised behaviour!
The autistic and the Asperger’s has been a long standing comparison of two similar and distinct disorders which both revolve around the same mechanism – psychosis!
The shadow side of each archetype is hidden from public view in private, the perverse sinister urges and indulgences is the plus/minus charge!
How the different types!
Nature; Born this way, genetic inheritance. DNA – 15 long arm and short arm.
Nurture; Created this way, society, cultural traditions, family and emotional guidance.
A piece of gene 15 is included in the long arm one arm of one of the two copies, this duplicate is referred to interstitial.
An extra chromosome: which is two pieces stuck together on the q arm. – is called isodicentric and has no family connections with the chromosomal abnormality as it forms by chance. No links to environmental or lifestyle factors. Therefore, there is nothing that parents did before, or during pregnancy to cause the mutation.
Interstitial = high functioning
Isodicentric = low functioning
Savant skills are a result of GABRB3 – on long arm of gene 15. Therefore: innate – they are born this way.
If the DNA is interstitial, it indicates exceptional intelligence. Cerebral
If DNA is isodicentric, it indicates more in more severe expression. Sexual
Psychopath skills of mental manipulation is learnt, society, cultures, and familial traditions.
A savant raised in a supportive environment where he was given opportunities may remain balanced and in control, if his pre-frontal cortex is not too damaged, he will be able to connect to his emotions, however if it is, and his amygdala has been affected by trauma, a different outcome is expected due to the change of neurological pathway and peptides.
The amygdala’s are two almond-shaped masses of neurons on either side of the thalamus at the lower end of the hippocampus. When it is stimulated electrically, animals respond with aggression. And if the amygdala is removed, animals get very tame and no longer respond to things that would have caused rage before. But there is more to it than just anger: When removed, animals also become indifferent to stimuli that would have otherwise have caused fear and even sexual responses! The amygdala is often referred to as the mammalian ‘monkey’ brain, responsive to fear/trauma and indifference/love. Could this be what we are observing through social trends and growing autism diagnosis, Asperger’s, ADHD and other pervasive disorders!
The ventral tegmental area of the brain stem (just below the thalamus) consists of dopamine pathways that seem to be responsible for pleasure. People with damage here tend to have difficulty getting pleasure in life, and often turn to alcohol, drugs, sweets, and gambling. Depression maybe
The basal ganglia (including the caudate nucleus, the putamen, the globus pallidus, and the substantia nigra) lie over and to the sides of the limbic system, and are tightly connected with the cortex above them. Responsible for repetitive behaviours, reward experiences, and focusing attention.
The prefrontal cortex, which is the part of the frontal lobe which lies in front of the motor area, is also closely linked to the limbic system. Involved in thinking about the future, making plans, and taking action, it’s also involved in the same dopamine pathways as the ventral tegmental area, and plays a part in pleasure and addiction.
